Adam Keith, VIC – Sold April 2018

Do it yourself, what have you got to lose?

What attracted you to sell your own property?

I wanted a quick sale, so I had my place valued, then dropped the $20,000 commission I would have had to pay off that price. It gave the buyers a more affordable price range.

What will you do with the money you have saved in commission?

I could have saved money, but instead, I sold my place super quick so I could buy my new property.

What piece of advice would you give to someone who is selling their own property?

Do it yourself what have you got to lose? The feedback I got from people looking at my property was really positive. You know right away who is serious – there are no middle messages passed back and forth. You go to your solicitor, tell them you’re selling, they write up a Section 32 for you to give to interested buyers.

Once you have an offer you want to accept, get details from the buyer and give them to your solicitor. It’s that easy! You choose when the buyers want to come through!

I work away all day, so I had them all come through on a Saturday. The property was under offer in 4 weeks and I had offers all the time. I can’t believe people use Real Estate Agents, you’re throwing your money away.
